Google Wallet passes are now live for all brand partners. Android customers can add your loyalty card directly to their phone, giving them instant access to their status, points, rewards, and membership details, exactly like your iPhone customers already can.
Why we built this
When we launched Apple Wallet passes, the response was immediate, but it left a gap. Roughly half your members carry Android phones, and they were watching iPhone users add a pass they couldn't get themselves.
Loyalty shouldn't depend on which phone someone happens to own. With Google Wallet support, your whole community can carry your brand in their pocket, and you get a direct, real-time channel to every one of them.
How it works
You design your Google Wallet pass directly inside ethos: set your logo, colors, layout, and barcode format to match your brand. Members add their pass from their membership page with a single tap.
Once added, the pass stays current on its own. Points balances, tiers, and rewards update in real time, so your members always have the latest information when they reach for it.
Geofencing
You can set up to 10 physical locations and trigger a notification when a member is nearby, the same way you can with Apple Wallet. One difference worth knowing: on Google Wallet, the notification text is generated by Google when a member walks past, so you set the location and Google handles the rest.
Add to wallet from anywhere, with a QR code
This is the part we're most excited about. If a member is on desktop, they no longer have to log into their account on their phone just to add a pass. They can scan a QR code right from the screen and the pass goes straight to their phone, Google Wallet or Apple Wallet, whichever they use.
It's a small change that removes a real moment of friction, and it makes adding a pass effortless no matter where your members start.
