Today we're launching Surveys, a new benefit type that lets brands ask members richer, multi-question questions and get back the deeper feedback that transforms product and marketing decisions.

Why we built this

Polls have been one of the most loved benefits on ethos for a long time. They're quick, fun, give members a low-lift way to engage, and brands use them constantly to take the pulse of their community. Surveys are a natural next step in that same engagement direction, designed for the moments when a brand wants to go deeper. Validating a new product line, understanding why someone bought, ranking concepts against each other, the kinds of questions that need a few minutes of a member's attention and reward them for it.

How it works

A Survey is a multi-question benefit that members complete one question at a time. Brands can build up to 50 questions per survey, mix and match question types, and reward members with points on completion.  

There are seven question types to work with: single choice, multiple choice, star rating, NPS scale, open text, image choice, and ranking. That covers almost everything a brand would want to ask, from product preference and concept testing to post-purchase feedback and NPS tracking.

Better than an external form, by a lot

This is where Surveys really start to pull ahead of the usual options. When a member responds, you know exactly who they are, which tier they're in, how much they've spent, how long they've been a customer, and everything else in their profile. You can also gate a survey to a specific tier, so when you want feedback from your highest-spending VIPs only, that's a toggle. A blast to a 50,000-person email list with an anonymous form attached can't compete with feedback from the 200 customers who, without a doubt, already love you most. The signal is cleaner, the responses are more honest, and the results are supported by connected customer data.

Image choice is the one to watch

Of the seven question types, image choice is the one we're most excited about. Upload product photos, packaging concepts, or campaign visuals, and let members tell you which one lands. It turns a survey into something closer to a focus group, and it's the kind of question type that only makes sense when you have a built-in audience of engaged customers ready to weigh in.

Built-in reporting

Every Survey response flows into the ethos reporting dashboard, broken down by question and segmentable by tier, cohort, or member. The insight is there the moment members start responding, with exports available whenever you want to take the data further.
