Starting today, ethos brands can create their own ways to earn and reward members for any action they can track, on their site or anywhere else in their stack.

Why we built this
Our built-in ways to earn cover the moments every brand shares, like purchases, referrals, reviews, social follows, UGC uploads, birthdays and more. However, the moments that make your brand distinct usually live somewhere else: your mobile app, a booking tool for in-store consultations, a recycling program for empties, a private community. Many of those tools were never built to connect to a loyalty platform, so the actions your most engaged customers take have gone unrewarded. Custom ways to earn closes that gap.
Dream it up
Setting one up takes about a minute. Name the action, decide what it's worth in points, and write a short description your members will see on their members page, along with a button that takes them where they need to go. If it's something you want members to come back to, like logging their morning SPF or recycling their empties, turn on Allow multiple and they'll earn every time.
What you reward is up to you. You could give points for downloading your app, booking a consultation or joining a private slack channel. If your brand cares about it and can track it, it can earn points.
Wire it up
This is where your developers come in, and we've kept it simple. When a member completes the action, your server sends ethos an event with the customer's email. We match them to their membership and award the points automatically. If that email doesn't belong to a member yet, we create the membership first, so every custom action also grows your program.
The API uses standard client credentials, which your team will find in Member Options → API Credentials. Duplicate awards are blocked automatically unless you've allowed multiple completions, and a test mode lets your developers confirm everything works before it goes live.
